What a beautiful afghan. I am in the beginning stages of planning my Great American Afghan. I just love the color you've used. I too wanted a variation from the basic natural color, which is very beautiful too, but I am a color person. I too will combine the aran and the the great american afghan design.
Could I ask you what color you used, you mentioned a green heather. I am curious because your photo looks like a camel color.
New to the Great American Aran Afghan blog and love planning my new afghan project and soon will be starting mine.

Mary - I answered you below under your comments to me, but will do it again here. And again, sorry, I hadn't been checking this blog lately. But I have spent a lot of this terrible winter under my afghan!! I made it with Cascade Yarn "The Heathers" 220. Their colors don't have names, only numbers. This is color #9460, and is definitely in the green range. I'm sure you can find the yarns online. Good luck! Alice
I'm just getting started on this beautiful afghan and cannot decide on a yarn. I don't want it itchy, or lumpy. I saw someone's completed one on Ravelry.com that looked very smooth and flat (her user name is Lizziedripping). Pictured here: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3383/3454547068_d71be20221_z.jpg
Which yarn did you select?
Alice,
I love the afghan. Since you used cascade 220 wool yarn. How are you going to clean it. Hand wash or dry clean.
